Details: As the world wakes up to an altogether gloomier 2009, nothing puts more of a smile on your face than the escapism of a summer festival. Flip flops and funny hats, face paints and a funky ‘tache... yes folks this year’s festival season is fast approaching, and Lock N Load Events are delighted to reveal the all important dates for this summer’s two-day Clapham Weekender.
Resuming duties on our favourite bit of grass Clapham Common, for a sixth consecutive summer, we’ll be kicking off the August Bank Holiday weekend in traditional fashion with dance-all-dayer South West Four on Saturday 29th August, followed by the indie-dance-loving Get Loaded in the Park on Sunday 30th August.
Lambeth Council have just granted the licence for 2009, so we’re expecting another sell out 40,000 crowd, split across the two days.
In 2008 our award-winning festivals reached heady new heights with our most widely acclaimed weekend yet. Appearances by DJ heavyweights Carl Cox, John Digweed, Erick Morillo, Danny Tenaglia, Armin van Buuren and Sven Vath confirmed South West Four as southern England’s leading dance festival, whilst Iggy & the Stooges, Supergrass, Gossip, Kate Nash, Gogol Bordello, The Hives, Soulwax, DJ Yoda and Boys Noize were amongst the acts that rocked it at Get Loaded in the Park. Meanwhile, the world record attempt to get the highest number of people doing the ‘running man’ dance at any one time (as a tribute to Utah Saints’ video for ‘Something Good’!) came a close runner up at last year’s UK Festival Awards for ‘Most Memorable Moment’. Damn that Jay Z fella for Glasto ‘Wonderwall’.....
Recharged and raring to go; get ready for another lovely Lock N Load summer, where we like to keep the mud at bay and the camping for another day. One day festivals rule! Good night. |
