The phenomenon of French House music continues with our neighbours across the Channel supplying us with producers and DJ's who regularly headline at all the best clubs in Ibiza and produce the hit smashes that send us delirious on the various beaches and clubs of the Mediterranean every summer.

On Saturday 21st May three of the best took full advantage of the Eurotunnel cross-channel rail link and visited sunny London to give us a musical taste of the summer ahead.

David Guetta has been running the notorious "Fuck me I'm famous" parties in Ibiza for a couple of years now and he is renowned for his flamboyant style and excellent production work in the studio.

A close friend of mine who promotes a successful night in Sydney Australia has been shouting the praises of a certain Bob Sinclair for sometime now. As well as being a hugely successful DJ he also runs Yellow Records and is one half of the Africanism posse.

If you've been following the current trend of funky house that has been sweeping London's bars, clubs and pirate radio stations then the chances are you've heard a number of tunes by Martin Solveig. Famous for such tunes as Rocking Music and remixing Salif Keita's Madan he has a number of excellent tunes coming out which are heavily influenced by Prince.

With these three stalwarts of the French house scene playing in the main room the music was excellent. CJ Mackintosh controlled things in the adjoining second room making it difficult to decide where one should go and strut their stuff.

It seemed that the DJ's were not the only ones to come over on the Eurotunnel for the event. A good majority of the crowd had come all the way from Paris to experience the night at Turnmills. I spoke to quite a large number of girls from Paris who were all really enjoying the evening and the atmosphere. The action on the dance-floor was suitably impressive, as was the sound-system which more than lived up to the requirements of the sexy sounds emanating through it.

Over in the chill-out lounge a number of poker tables were laid out, each with their own professional dealer. Fans of Late-Night Poker on cable TV could finally give the game a go, all for fun of course! It was an interesting concept but I wasn't convinced that it actually worked. Trying to play Texas Hold'em poker with a bunch of spaced out clubbers, who are all French and think they are playing Blackjack, is a particularly taxing experience, but thankfully we had an understanding dealer who helped us out and was quite cute too.

Back on the main dance-floor the action continued with the DJ's taking it in turn to shock the crowd with their latest studio releases. The music wasn't anywhere near as heavy or tribal as I had expected, with a good soulful vibe running throughout the evenings selection. For a club full to capacity things were operated really smoothly and efficiently, without large queues for drinks or the cloakroom. Turnmills has been operating for a number of years now and they know exactly what it takes to run a busy nightclub.

To conclude the evening was a big success. Looking forwards the club is continuing to book big-name DJ's throughout the summer months so if you love your House Music you can pretty much rest assured that Turnmills will have a night to cater to your needs.
