‘Dancing shoes and pretty girls, boys in leather kiss girls in pearls’, the lyrics once recited by the biggest band of eighties pop seemed pretty apt last night when entering Pacha London for the seriously glamorous Rockcity. Sexy dancers seductively shimmied around poles in minimalist white outfits to funky and soulful sounds, capsulated by an atmosphere so electric and surrounded by some of London’s most beautiful clubbers.

Rockcity hit the capital for its second instalment after the phenomenal success of its first event back in November. Promoted by Italian duo Manuela and Rosario, best known for their well established night Vertigo at The Cross, Rockcitys aim was to bring together London’s most glamorous clubbers for a celebration of colour and style. And they certainly did!

With as much effort put into the décor and theme of the club as there was with the DJ line up, these guys are definitely on to a winning formula. American DJ Kenny Carpenter, a forefather of dance music, headlined the night. He emerged onto the club scene in the 70’s and has continuously developed his sound to stay at the top. A favorite of many clubbers his sound is his soul with a hint of Balearic beats and vocal anthems thrown in, cumulating into a set that has your feet moving non stop to the beat and your body gyrating across the baseline.

Kenny played alongside Azuli front man David Piccioni, House FM’s Tony Nicholls, Jeffrey Hinton from Drama/Queer Nation and Vertigo resident Micky Guy. Between them they provided 2 rooms of music which complemented each other brilliantly.

Pacha London has enjoyed immense success since opening just over 2 years ago and it’s not surprising. Not only is it beautiful, the Moroccan feel to room 2 with the leather beds, not only look good they make for the best chill out area – but the service is second to none with both security and staff being amongst the most polite known to club land…it makes for a pleasurable night out.

Rockcity will be held at Pacha London on the 5th Saturdays of the month, with the next event on 29th May. This is a night to check out if you like to dress up and get down to the signature sound known to Pacha worldwide.
