I was really excited before this night, not only because of the line-up but because of this being a new venue and I had not been there before.

Don’t you just love going to new venues? The feeling of excitement and adrenalin running through your body as you try and imagine what it looks like in your mind. Well I definitely knew that the venue had recently been refurbished at a whopping 2.5 million so I thought it was worth getting excited about.

We arrived at about 11pm and fortunately there was only a small line-up outside so we were in the club as quick as a 60 second freefall. With the venue housing 3 cloakrooms we didn’t have to wait long at all to put in our bags and jackets.

As you walk up a short flight of stairs into this venue, there is a corridor on the left and on the right leading into the main room. In between these corridors is another flight of stairs taking you up to the other levels.

As you walk into the main room from the left corridor there is a huge and very impressive bar which almost runs the entire width of the room. The dance floor is behind the bar and you can see the awesome green lasers projecting around the room while you get a drink, very impressive.

Automatically you get a good vibe about the place. It is very spacious and splashed with funky colours blues, pinks and purples.

There are two walkways on either side of the room that lead onto the dance floor. One leads down a short flight of steps and the other continues alongside and is a mini platform that looks over the dance floor on each side about a meter up.

The main room is huge. The ceiling is very high and I was surprised that the music did not echo. The DJ’s were situated up onstage at the back of the room. This was the trance room. The toilets are situated near the bar and were very clean, equipped with their very own attendants.

Up on the next level is a much smaller room with a bar situated on the other side facing you as you walk in. This room was used for the harder stuff. Up another flight of stairs on your right was the funky room. An even smaller room which also had a bar. There was a very different crowd present. I don’t know if it had anything to do with the name of the event but it seemed to me and my girlfriend that nobody had made an effort with their appearance. Obviously there were the normal cyber-kids with their glowsticks in hand, but everyone else looked a bit sloppy. That’s just my opinion anyway.

Down in the trance room Signum played an absolute cracker of a set and lead the crowd on a journey through some very uplifting tunes of utter heaven. It wasn’t a sellout crowd, but those that were there seemed to enjoy themselves nonetheless.

As at every trance party the cyber – kids were smiling from ear to ear as they reached for the lasers cutting out shapes in the air. The music was very uplifting and “in the clouds” if you like, a little too much for me. Cosmic Gate was in sublime form and also played a blinder, just feeding off the crowd’s vibes and keeping them “in the clouds”.

I didn’t really give the hard house room a chance as it was very hot in there and I had to get fresh air on the stairs every five minutes. But it was packed to the brim in the usual antipodean fashion and everyone was all smiles. The funky room was a bit disappointing and never really took off.

Another disappointment was that there was no where to sit and chill out throughout the night. The balcony had not yet been opened and was still apparently under refurbishment. So there were people sitting in the corridors and in every corner.

All in all it was not the night I had expected it to be. I never really got into the music and the atmosphere did not generate into one that it should of being a trance party. But the sound was great and the venue is superb (hopefully the balcony will open soon).
