Tummy Touch is recognised today as one of the funkiest chilled out labels in the dance music scene. As they've been responsible for bringing the likes of Groove Armada and Tim 'Love' Lee to the attention of the masses it's easy to understand how they've achieved this status.

Founded by Tim 'Love' Lee, Tummy Touch threw their first party in 1994, but it wasn't until 1997 that the TT posse established east London's trendy 333 club as their new home.

Arriving at 333 on a Saturday around midnight almost guarantees you a spot in the typical lengthy queue. But usually, on entering the club the wait seems worthwhile, and tonight was no exception. On walking through the doors you were greeted to a mass number of heads all bopping along to some funky James Brown style tunes.

Taking control of the upstairs sounds for the night were DJ's Tim 'Love' Lee and Los Chichorrons. With their mix of soulful funky classics and Latino flavored grooves they managed to keep the heaving dance floor funking from start to finish. Downstairs, the Idjut Boys got everyone into a Saturday night disco fever vibe. With the help of a packed dance floor, mirror ball style lighting and a fine selection of dub disco and Latino beats the crowd spent the night cutting up some Travolta party moves.

Unlike the usual club nights, Tummy Touch were aiming for a more party atmosphere and seemed to carry it off well. Maybe it was for this reason that the crowd attendance was so impressive. What was refreshing about the clientele was that it wasn't just your usual Old Street trendy crowd, and although it was your typical mid 20's crowd it seemed to include people from all walk's of life.

With a nice location, 333 has built a reputation as being one of trendy Shorditchs' main attractions. It was designed as an anti 'Super Club' establishment with the theory of pure partying being its philosophy. Inside, the 500 capacity club has a touch of the heroine chic feel about it, and the downstairs definitely has more character than the upstairs deco. Although not the most Inspiring deco inside 333 has a reputation of throwing some of the best nights in the capital.

The only negative point of the night was the over crowding. Not being able to make a complete tit of myself on the dance floor is slightly frustrating, especially when the sounds are so damn funky.

In all, the party was a good night, and if you like your funky, discoey, Latino and chilled beats you should keep your eyes peeled for more of the Tummy Touch events.
